How to Choose the Best Interior Designer

Choose the Best Interior Designer Great interior designers save you time, effort, and a lot of stress. There are several qualities interior designers should possess to ensure they can deliver what you want. According to Remodel, about 22% of homeowners spend between $5,000-$15,000 on home remodel projects. Good interior designers can increase the value of any home remodel. Look for these qualities to choose the best interior designer for your project. No matter how developed a designer’s eye and style are, if they don’t have industry knowledge about materials and what is and isn’t possible, they cannot achieve their goals. A well-heeled industry professional will not only have a fantastic sense of style, but they will also have in-depth technical knowledge about materials. The best interior designers have a combination of formal education and hands-on experience. They work well with contractors and have at least a basic knowledge of the working parts, from electrical to interior design. An interior designer should come with a network of resources for everything from lighting to flooring and art. They are well-connected to various suppliers in the industry. A network is an important quality because it is how the designer finds unique pieces for your home at a great price point. This quality is typically developed through experience. A strong network of suppliers also points to a good reputation in the industry. You must choose an interior designer that works toward your vision. The right interior designer is a good listener who asks plenty of questions to get to know you better. A designer that puts their client’s vision above their own taste is a must. They should ask questions about your lifestyle and vision for the space. They should check in with you frequently to ensure they gather all the information they can. Interior designers bring a lot to the table. Choosing the right designer is essential to the results of your project. Take the time to research and look for the qualities mentioned here to find a designer you can partner with to elevate your home’s style. Decorating Styles to Consider When Revamping Your Home

Decorating Styles to Consider When Revamping Your Home According to industry reports, the interior design sector contributes significantly to the economy, with billions of dollars in revenue generated annually. Homeowners undertake renovation projects for various reasons, whether to enhance visual appeal or customize amenities to suit their comfort requirements. Regardless of the motivation, revamping a home can foster a deeper connection to the space. Exploring different decorating styles can provide inspiration and guidance for a home revamp. Traditional design draws from classic European décor, incorporating antique furniture and intricate moldings for a timeless aesthetic. Symmetry is fundamental, instilling a sense of balance and refinement throughout the room. Conversely, contemporary style embraces simplicity and sophistication, characterized by clean lines, open spaces, and minimalist furnishings. Neutral tones and sleek metal accents contribute to a modern atmosphere that feels both sleek and welcoming. For those who favor minimalism and sleek lines, modern décor offers an appealing option. With its emphasis on simplicity and striking contrasts, modern design creates a polished and streamlined environment that exudes elegance. Transitional design provides a versatile approach, blending elements from modern, contemporary, and traditional styles. This allows for a seamless integration of textures, finishes, and furnishings, resulting in a space that feels both inviting and polished. Meanwhile, shabby-chic design infuses a home with vintage charm. Featuring distressed furniture, floral prints, and whitewashed floors, this style evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Pendant light fixtures and soft textiles enhance the cozy ambiance. By exploring these decorating styles, homeowners can find inspiration for their own revamp projects. Whether drawn to the timeless allure of traditional design or the contemporary simplicity of modern style, the team at Janet Brooks Design is dedicated to bringing each client’s vision to life.
Decorating Tips to Make Your Home Feel New Again

Decorating Tips to Make Your Home Feel New Again Despite common beliefs, revitalizing your home decor doesn’t always require extensive effort. A subtle pop of color or strategic adjustments can breathe new life into your space. According to Lifehacker, maintaining the center of hanging art at eye level, between 56″ to 60″ from the floor, fosters harmony and modernizes your home. Let’s explore additional decorating ideas to rejuvenate your house. In modern home decor, a restrained color palette is typical, with vibrant hues reserved for accentuating focal points like artwork or unique features, while the rest of the space remains neutral, often in shades of white. Creatively incorporating these color highlights through switches or strategic paint choices can infuse freshness into your home. Updating light fixtures can dramatically transform the aesthetic of your space. Outdated fixtures can detract from the overall ambiance, while newer, stylish models offer a contemporary touch that elevates the look and feel of any room. Refreshing your tableware is an often-overlooked aspect of home decor. Aging dishes can detract from the overall appeal of your dining area, so investing in new pieces can instantly modernize your space. Choose tableware that complements your environment and reflects your personal style. Carpets and rugs, like other decor elements, can become outdated over time. Modern home decor tends to favor hardwood or ceramic flooring for a clean, fresh look. However, if you opt for a rug, select one with contemporary colors and minimalistic designs to enhance the modern aesthetic. Reducing clutter is essential for creating a sleek, modern atmosphere. Remove unnecessary knick-knacks and trinkets that can make a space feel dated and crowded. Embracing a minimalist approach will not only brighten your home but also make it easier to maintain cleanliness. Armed with these tips, you’re ready to revitalize your home and infuse it with newfound vibrancy. While some changes may be simple fixes, others may require the expertise of an interior designer or investment in new furniture. Contact the team at Janet Brooks Design to discover the perfect decor solutions for your home.

Do’s and Don’ts for a Home Renovation

As an experienced interior designer, I understand that any home renovation can be a significant undertaking. There’s a multitude of factors to consider, from budget and timeline to design and execution. Once you begin, it can be easy to find yourself needing to change course. That’s why it’s crucial to do your research and plan meticulously before starting any home renovations. Let me share some essential do’s and don’ts to help you avoid common pitfalls and ensure your home improvement project is a success. Whether you’re planning a small kitchen update or a complete home makeover, read on for some expert advice. Do’s First, do carry out your own research. This is perhaps the most important step in planning any home renovation. Spend time browsing through home design magazines and websites, and visit local model homes or open houses. This will help you get a clear idea of what you like and dislike, enabling you to narrow down your options effectively. Next, do set a budget. Once you have a good idea of what you want to achieve, it’s essential to think about the financial aspect. Establish a realistic budget for your project, and be sure to include a cushion for unexpected costs. This preparation will help you stay on track and avoid any unpleasant surprises. Do hire a professional. Unless you’re an experienced home design contractor, it’s always best to enlist the help of a professional for major renovations. A skilled contractor can help you stay on budget and on schedule, and they’ll have the expertise to manage any unforeseen challenges that arise. Don’ts On the flip side, don’t bite off more than you can chew. It’s easy to get carried away with grand plans, but before you start tearing down walls or gutting your kitchen, realistically assess what you can handle. If you’re unsure, it’s always best to start small and gradually take on bigger projects. Don’t overlook the details. As the saying goes, the devil is in the details. When planning any home renovation, be sure to consider all the little things that will make a big difference in the end. Elements such as paint colors, hardware, and lighting can all have a major impact on the final result. Finally, don’t forget to factor in your comfort level. If you’re uncomfortable with making big changes, start small and work your way up. If you’re really unsure where to start, consider hiring a professional designer to help you get the ball rolling. Did you know that 35% of remodeling jobs involve whole home renovations? That’s a significant number of homeowners making substantial changes to their homes. However, as we’ve seen, not all home renovations are created equal. By following the do’s and don’ts I’ve outlined, you can avoid common pitfalls and make the most of your home improvement project. If you’re ready to embark on your next renovation, call the team at Janet Brooks Design today. We’d be happy to help you plan and execute your dream home renovation.

What You Didn’t Know About the Interior Design Industry

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section” _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” _builder_version=”4.16″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” global_colors_info=”{}”] Drawing upon my extensive experience and expertise as an interior designer deeply immersed in the realm of innovative design, I’m constantly captivated by the intricate tapestry of evolving trends and dynamics shaping the industry. Let’s embark on a journey to uncover some fascinating insights into the multifaceted world of interior design that may surprise you. Many design specialists often chase trends to create stylish interiors that appeal to potential buyers. However, it’s crucial to be mindful of the transient nature of trends. While trendy designs may seem appealing initially, they can quickly become outdated, potentially impacting the resale value of your home. Instead, opting for a classic interior design look can provide long-lasting appeal and timeless elegance, resonating with a wider range of buyers. In regions with warm climates like Arizona, indoor-outdoor living spaces are incredibly popular. These versatile areas blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living, creating inviting spaces for relaxation and entertainment. Patio doors play a crucial role in these environments, seamlessly integrating the indoors with the outdoors while enhancing the overall aesthetic of the interior design. Despite the passage of time, the Southwestern Style has maintained its popularity since the 70s and 80s. Embracing neutral tones and incorporating warm accent colors can create a welcoming ambiance that appeals to prospective buyers. Elements such as wood accents, glass features, and tiled surfaces contribute to the distinctive charm of Southwestern-inspired interiors, making them desirable in today’s market. Engineered wood flooring has emerged as a beloved trend, offering a stylish alternative to traditional carpeting. Paired with fashionable area rugs for added color and warmth, engineered wood flooring enhances the aesthetic appeal of any space while providing durability and easy maintenance. Light fixtures play a pivotal role in defining the style and ambiance of your home. Whether you prefer modern, industrial, rustic, glam, or steampunk designs, selecting the right light fixtures can elevate your interior design to new heights. Consulting with a design professional can help you choose light fixtures that complement your aesthetic preferences and create a truly unique space. In the ever-changing landscape of the interior design industry, it’s essential to stay informed and adaptable. If you’re unsure about incorporating a particular trend or style into your space, don’t hesitate to reach out to the experienced team at Janet Brooks Design. Our tailored approach to design ensures that we integrate your vision seamlessly into every aspect of your home. Let us help you create a space that reflects your individual style and exceeds your expectations. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
